Adding and Editing Pages

This page describes how to add and edit website pages - which is a simple and easy task, you just need to select where to add your new page, choose a title and write a few lines of content, then press SAVE.

If you want to make any changes to your web site you'll need to be logged in, to find out more please visit the general overview section.

Adding a Web Page

From the Editor landing page, select the first of the 9 icons, ADD - this takes you to a selection page which offers you several choices of where to add your new page.

The concept to understand here, is that a new page can be added in one of two ways - it is either added to the top level ( such as the "Home Page" of your site, so that other pages can be connected below it ) or it is added below an existing page ( a maximum of 3 levels is possible ).

You'll see a list of all the active pages of your website - these are shown in the order they are arranged in your website - select from this list the page to which you'd like to add a new page - you can also add a page to the top level of your website by selecting Top Level.

Once you have selected a page, the screen will reload, now click on the name that you just selected to go to the editor - you can always select to add your new page to a different location by clicking on Change Your Mind.

Most new pages use the general page type ( see the content section of the wiki for a full explanation of the different page types available ) - you also select blog or photo gallery.

Content Manager

The next page will present you the main options and a bar titled Advanced Options, if you roll the mouse over any of the titles you'll get a quick tip to help you remember.

We'll cover each of the five main options below, there is an extra article which covers the Advanced Options.

TITLE - This is the title that appers on the page, like Adding and Editing Pages does here, you can write whatever you like, but it's better not to make it too long and to try and describe the content of the page.

NAV - This should be a shorter version of the main page title, it's used in your website navigation and also to create the physical file name of the page ( called a URL ).

INTRO - This is a short introduction to the page content, it is used on leading pages, RSS feeds and also to make the page Meta Description, for search results and Google.

TEXT - This field has no title, but is the main box on the page with the 3 rows of icons above, you can simple type directly in here, or copy and paste from another program ( if you choose to copy from Word you should use the small icon with the Word symbol, this will clean up the text and make it web-happy ) - see our article about the Text Editor to learn what each icon can do, or just try!

IMAGE - This area displays the images that have been uploaded to your default image folder, you can upload more by clicking the small camera icon, then press the blue arrow to refresh the list - to select an image simple click on the small square thumbnail preview, to remove one click the red cross.

Editing a Website Page

The easiest way to edit an existing page is to login and then visit your website using the preview option on the login landing page, this version of your website includes several links at the top of the page allowing you to edit specific pages directly.

Now you can make any changes you like, to the titles of text and images.

Saving Your Changes

Once you've entered or edited the page to how you want it to be, you must remember to click SAVE at the bottom of the page.
