Photo Gallery Module
The Web Editor photo gallery modules has been designed to allow clients to quickly build and easily maintain good looking galleries - with a range of features such as automatic thumbnail generation and the functional lightbox plug-in.
Adding a photo gallery is done much the same way as adding any other page - it is possible to select the page type while adding a new page by clicking the change type option in the green bar above where the page location is selected.
It is also possible to change almost any page ( except the site map and contact page ) to a photo gallery by going to the Extra Options grey bar near the save button in the editor, and selecting Photo Gallery from the list or options.
Editing Galleries
To add to or edit the images in any gallery it is possible to either view a gallery page in the test website ( this is the version that can be linked to while logged in to Web Editor ) there is a link towards the bottom of the page, next to a box which says if any photos have been added yet and offers a link to add more.
It is also possible to access all photo galleries together by going to Modules > Gallery - there is a link from the User Home page ( the first page after login ).
Once a gallery have been selected from the list, the existing photos ( if there are any ) are displayed, below which there is an option to UPLOAD or REFESH.
UPLOAD - will open the image library to the specific folder of the gallery - showing just the root and thumbs folders - it is only necesary to upload larger images to the root folder, as the gallery will automatically generate the thumb images.
NOTE: Uploaded images cannot be larger than 300kb - and should sensibly not be wider than 1000 pixels or higher than 800 pixels.
After uploading images close the Image Library and use the REFRESH link to rebuild the photo gallery.
Moving Galleries
It is also possible to move a gallery to another page - this will change the old gallery page to a standard page and, naturally change the page selected to a gallery page.
Deleting Galleries
Deleting a gallery will remove all photos and set the connected page to display as a standard page - please note this is permanent and all images on the server will be deleted.
Customizing Galleries
Developers can customize almost all features of the photo gallery - visual stlye can be changed via CSS and the height and width of thumbnails can be changed via the Web Editor API - there is also a choice of 2 versions of the lightbox script used to present the larger images.
