Domain DNS Configuration

There are a number of ways to configure a domain to work with a website build using Web Editor, this page explains the typical options.

DNS Nameservers

In order to have full control over the domain and email set-up it is best to change the DNS nameservers to point to those of Web Editor:

Nameserver 1: ns1810.ukvpshosting.com
Nameserver 2: ns1811.ukvpshosting.com

All previous existing nameservers for the domain should be removed, also please note that a domain must have two valid nameservers - but that 3rd and 4th nameservers are optional.

Once NS records are pointed to the Web Editor server this also gives full control over MX records - which are used to create email accounts and forwards on the domain, which means that all email configuation should now be completed via Web Editor.

Domain Forwarding

The poor alternative to NS changing, domain forwarding typically involve creating a frame around the website in order to keep the correct URL in the browser title bar.

This method is bad for SEO as all page content is hidden behind a frame and bad for users, as no page URL's can be bookmarked.

Domain Forwarding is only really an option if the domain registration company used does not offer any DNS control - in which case we would suggest that you ask us to change the registrar of your domain to Web Editor, which will take about a week and give you full control over your email and domain.
